Mthombothi Studios was established in 2002 and publishes reading strategies and books for education, aimed at young readers. The material is written and illustrated with great care, in an integrated approach towards effective and rewarding teaching and learning. Our work is Afrocentric and represents the culture and folklore of South and Southern Africa.

CAPS Graded Reader Series
The Graded Reader series consists of 36 graded reading books for grades 4, 5 and 6. They combine different genres of text: stories, poems, drama and non-fiction, providing a broad reading experience for the learners.
Kolulu Taktaki Series
The Kolulu Taktaki character and series 1 books are the product of the imagination of a boy of six and girl of nine and have served as the inspiration for all the Kolulu Taktaki books
Themba and Bizza
The adventures of Themba and Bizza is a series of South African comic books. The genre is Afrocentric Multicultural Fiction set against a background of the folklore, history and mythology of Southern Africa. The readers can easily relate to the characters, environment and language, and enjoy reading the books as a result.
